As a Walmart employee, one of the things I appreciate is a well-informed and considerate customer base. Here are some things I would like customers to know and do to enhance their shopping experience:

Understand and Comply with Store Policies

One of the most important things customers should understand is the guidelines that come with Walmart's self-checkout lanes and other store signs. Ignorance of these can lead to frustration for both the employees and the customers.

Express Checkout Signage: Understanding that the self-checkout lane is for 25 items or less can prevent misunderstandings. When a customer tries to use the self-checkout for more than the allowed number of items, they should be informed that this is an express lane.

Another common issue is that customers snacking in the store, which can result in weighing issues at checkout. Keeping this in mind can help the checkout process go more smoothly.

Use the Walmart App Effectively

The Walmart app is an incredibly useful tool that can help customers navigate the store more efficiently. Here are a few reasons why I wish more customers would use it:

Finding Items: The app provides detailed information on where to find items in the store, saving customers the time of searching around. Inventory Check: Customers often ask if the store has a certain item in stock. Instead of asking in-store, they can check the app immediately to see if the item is available in-store or only online. onestorevsion">MORE ACCURATE INVENTORY INFORMATION: Relying on the app for inventory information is more reliable than Google. The store may not always have the exact information reflected, so checking in-store or through the app is the best practice. Calling or visiting the store can also help resolve any discrepancies.

Be Patient and Understanding

There are a few more things that would make our job a bit easier:

Respect Employee Time: Avoid interrupting help with another customer. Patience and waiting are key for a pleasant shopping experience. snacketion">KNOW THE LIMITS: Be aware of the gift card limits at checkouts, as these limits are imposed by management for various reasons. If a customer is trying to buy more than the allowed number of gift cards, explain the policy and suggest alternative solutions. We may not know the exact amount until the customer uses their card for the transaction.
