The Impact of Trump's Impeachment on Biden’s Campaign and His Political Performance

Is Donald Trump's impeachment hitting a nerve within Joe Biden's campaign? Despite the Bidens' alleged innocence, the impeachment proceedings have undeniably cast a shadow over the Democratic nominee's prospects. This tumultuous period couldn't have come at a more inopportune time for Biden, as he navigates a campaign landscape fraught with challenges. Even when he appears to be innocent, the mere specter of impeachment causes political ripple effects that can taint a candidate's image and public perception.

My initial support for Biden as a safe pick for the Democratic party waned after observing his performance in debates. His stumbles and lackluster responses have made me question his suitability for the presidency. During critical engagements, Biden often appears unprepared, unable to provide coherent answers—even when these answers might be fabricated. This inconsistency is a significant liability, especially given the critical need for a clear and consistent message in politics.

Biden's Lackluster Campaign Strategy

Biden's campaign efforts have been anything but robust. His campaign has been like a sleep-walker, conceding key states such as Iowa and New Hampshire long before these states' primaries even took place. His absence from these critical battleground states suggests a lack of strategic focus and determination. During one of the most crucial periods for campaign engagement, he was notably absent from the field, moving on to South Carolina instead. This move shows a strategic misstep rather than a well-thought-out plan.

Many in the Democratic party had high hopes for Biden to 'win the game' without putting in the necessary work. They seemed to believe they just needed to wave the Obama name and that the votes would naturally follow. However, this approach has proven deeply flawed. Despite never participating in crucial QA sessions on podcasts such as Pod Save America, where other candidates did, Biden still seemed confident that his name alone would be enough. His inability to capitalize on the platform of previous successes indicates a serious lack of strategic acumen and real-world engagement.

Communication Fails and Verbal Gaffes

Communication is a critical component of leadership, especially for a candidate seeking the presidency. Biden's gaffes have not only overshadowed his campaign but also colored public perception. Missteps like advising black parents to play phonographs for their children due to a half-understood and widely refuted study in the 1980s not only highlight a lack of cultural sensitivity but also a disconnection from contemporary issues and communities. His comments about working at a swimming pool as a young man and the incident with "lying dog-faced pony-soldier" further underscore this issue. These moments, captured on tape, reflect poorly on his judgment and ability to handle public remarks gracefully.

Conclusion and Future of the Campaign

Regardless of political affiliation, there is a clear need for a candidate who can articulate a coherent and compelling vision for the future. Biden’s repeated missteps and failure to connect with voters through meaningful engagement are concerning. The Iowa and New Hampshire results, although not a definitive sign of doom, certainly point to a lack of enthusiasm among voters.

Though I remain a staunch supporter of the Democratic party, my quest for a better candidate continues. Joe Biden has run for the presidency twice before and failed. There is no strong indication that he has improved since then, and several indicators suggest he is not up to the challenge of being President. However, I am committed to voting for Blue regardless of who emerges as the nominee. But, I implore: let us not choose between two old men who are quickly losing their grip on reality and their effectiveness.
