A Web Development Pesto Tech Graduate
Importance of Student Effort
This graduate from Batch 4 October 2020 shares an interesting perspective on the importance of student effort in conjunction with the support provided by Pesto Tech:
I think that happened because I took the program seriously, prepared for the interviews, completed assignments, and projects. If I had just put all of my faith on the terms of ISA and had done nothing to upskill myself, then probably things would have ended differently for me. So it’s a two-way street. If you do your part right, which is actually studying and preparing for the opportunities, then Pesto will make sure to do their part right.
Impact of the Program
The graduate highlights the life-changing impact of the program, particularly in terms of job upgrades and the continuous learning environment:
They helped me in every possible way to upgrade to a better job. The 3-month training was fun and heavy in knowledge-gaining. Plus, there are great community forums available to keep upskilling with the latest technologies. It has been my life-changing decision. I hope yours will be too!
Batch 9 Graduate: Web Development
Initial Experience and Challenges
Another graduate from Batch 9 July 19 - Oct 19 shares his initial experience with Pesto Tech, emphasizing the support he received despite not meeting the initial standards:
Initially, I joined Pesto in their very first batch in 2018 just right after my end-semester exams. At that time, I was not aware of Reactjs and had little experience with JavaScript. As I was just starting out my journey in web development during that time, I wasn’t able to pass the assessment test in Pesto. I had to leave after a month. Both the CEOs had one-on-one meetings with me and told me things that I needed to improve.
Learning and Growth
The graduate further discusses the learning experience and the importance of soft skills:
In the month that I spent there, I learned a lot about clean code, remote culture, and most importantly, the soft skills. I got to learn some of the things that most developers with years of experience are unaware of. So for the next year, I worked hard in an Indian startup, gained experience, got exposure, and applied to their 9th batch.
Program Structure and Reviews
The graduate explains the program structure, which includes intensive technical learning, a team project, and open source contributions:
The program structure is as follows: 1 month of intense, technical learning, while also focusing on soft skills. Then, a team project is done, followed by strict code reviews. After that, the focus shifts to open-source contribution, while also practicing for interviews. The Pesto team schedules a meeting between students and open-source library maintainers to ease open-source contribution for the students.
Job Opportunities and Support
The graduate describes the job hunt process and the support provided by Pesto Tech:
After 3 months of training, your resumes are posted on Pesto’s hiring portal showcasing your past experience and accomplishments. Companies who are hiring go through your profiles and reach out to you via emails. You are also free and encouraged to look out for jobs on other platforms to accelerate your job hunt. Everyone who joins Pesto has some expectation/goal in mind. I had multiple interviews with both Indian and US-based startups offering more than 15lpa. Eventually, I got an offer from a YC startup in January, and it was worth the wait.
Conclusion
The success stories from Pesto Tech graduates collectively underscore the value of its programs. Whether in pest control technology or web development, the experience provided by Pesto Tech is invaluable, offering students the skills they need to succeed and the support to make the most of their opportunities. For those seeking a top-tier education, Pesto Tech stands as an excellent choice.
