Feeling Accomplished: A Personal Journey of Self-Confidence and Success
Pretty damn good! Feeling accomplishment is more than just a phrase; it's a powerful sentiment that transcends words.
Sometimes, once you achieve something you've been striving for, you're transported into a state of reflection. It's as if you want to shout, 'Time, please stop, let me live a little more!' Now, when you think about that achievement, the urge to travel back in time is overwhelming. This is precisely what I experienced with my 10th result.
I was felicitated by my friends, family, neighbors, and many unknown individuals. The joy of this achievement was so profound that even an onion would shed tears at the sight of my happiness. The night was adorned with moonlight, a symbol of serenity and clarity, and the presence of Shiva, a timeless deity evoking a sense of profound accomplishment.
Feeling accomplished is an incredibly rewarding experience. It bestows upon you a strong sense of self-confidence. Even at 69 years old, I have achieved quite a bit. In 1977, I earned a B.S. degree from Texas AM University, ranking somewhere in the middle of my class. In 1989, I earned a M.S. in Computer Science, achieving the top position in my class for the second degree.
After obtaining my first college degree, I served in the U.S. Navy. In my civilian life, I worked as a Registered Professional Civil Engineer for ten years while simultaneously pursuing my second degree in night school. Eventually, I quit my job and moved to California, where I worked as a Silicon Valley engineer for Apple Inc. and a few other similar companies. I then retired at the age of 68 and moved back to Texas, where I am currently attending Texas State University — San Marcos to work towards a B.A. in Music Performance as a jazz musician, purely for fun.
The Texas veteran’s benefits fund almost all my college expenses. As I mentioned, this feeling of accomplishment is both a delight and a palpable sense of self-confidence. It teaches you to believe in yourself and your capabilities.
How to Achieve Self-Confidence
How do you cultivate this sense of self-confidence? One key is to tackle and successfully complete a variety of challenging tasks. Each triumph builds upon the previous, helping you to gain a solid belief in your abilities. Failures, while important to learn from, can often be safely ignored if you have experienced success.
So, if you want to build self-confidence, simply start taking on challenging endeavors and strive to get some of them right. It may take 68 years, as in my case, but you might achieve it sooner, who knows?
The pursuit of accomplishment is a lifelong journey of personal growth and satisfaction. So, give it a try and witness the transformation within yourself.
