Disappointments in My Favorite Nintendo Games: Witcher 3, Grand Theft Auto Trilogy, Pillars of Eternity, and Just Cause 4
When it comes to video games, expectations are high, and when they aren't met, the disappointment can be crushing . In this article, I will share my experience with four popular Nintendo games that I had high hopes for but ultimately ended up being quite disappointing. These games were Witcher 3, Grand Theft Auto Trilogy, Pillars of Eternity, and Just Cause 4. Each one had its unique issues that led to a less-than-ideal experience.
Witcher 3: The Disappointing Battle
Witcher 3 was a tough pill to swallow. After investing a substantial ten hours of my time, I simply couldn't get into the game enough to continue. Among all the problems, the combat system turned out to be the deal-breaker for me. Everything else, like the story, the side quests, and the environment, was at least decent, but the combat system I found to be subpar.
While many players felt a strong connection with the game, it wasn't the case for me. I hope you understand that no matter how someone justifies their opinion, I have no plans to reconsider my stance on this game. I will reconsider only when I feel like it, and ten hours is more than enough playtime. Stop trying to convince people that a few hours of playtime is irrelevant if they didn’t enjoy the game.
Grand Theft Auto Trilogy: From Nostalgia to Disappointment
In 2021, my excitement levels skyrocketed when I heard that Grand Theft Auto (GTA) Trilogy was getting a remaster. As a huge fan of Grand Theft Auto: Vice City from my childhood, I was eager to relive some nostalgia. However, my expectations were not met.
Months passed, and the game was finally released. To my dismay, it was not the triumphant reunion I had hoped for. While the remastered graphics were impressive, the game itself fell short. It was a great disappointment for me. The gameplay didn't offer the same level of fun and creativity that the original trilogy did.
Pillars of Eternity: The Letdown of a Spiritual Successor
Pillars of Eternity aimed to be a sacred successor to Baldur's Gate II. After years of development, I was excited to dive into this new adventure. However, my enthusiasm turned to disappointment as the game failed to live up to its promises.
From the moment I started playing, the setting felt unoriginal and generic. The introductory chapter was poorly executed, both confusing and monotonous. The story took an even more disappointing turn when my friends, whom I had spent time developing relationships with, were senselessly killed.
The game's complex mechanics further dampened my enjoyment. While I understand that some gamers thrive on such challenges, for me, the lack of engaging setting and the complexity made the experience frustrating and tiresome.
Just Cause 4: A Letdown Compared to Previous Entries
Just Cause 4, despite being highly anticipated, did not meet the high expectations set by its predecessors. After playing Just Cause 1 and 2, and hearing positive reviews about Just Cause 3, I was ready for a similar experience. However, my experience with Just Cause 4 was largely disappointing. While the graphics were visually impressive and the cutscenes were well done, the overall gameplay lacked the seamless freedom and fun that the previous games provided.
For me, the sense of exploration and freedom that defined the earlier games was absent, making the experience less enjoyable.
Conclusion
While these games had their unique strengths, they ultimately fell short of my expectations. Each game presented particular challenges and disappointments that made the overall experience less fulfilling. Whether it was the combat in Witcher 3, the lack of creativity in GTA Trilogy, the complexity of Pillars of Eternity, or the missing freedom in Just Cause 4, these titles were not the high-quality products I was hoping for.
Remember that while expectations should be reasonable, sometimes the content just doesn't meet them. These are my personal reflections, and I sincerely hope that these insights help you make informed decisions when you are considering these games.
