Cracking the CUET: Comprehensive Preparation Strategies

Hi there! If you're planning to take the Central University Entrance Test (CUET) to gain admission to the best universities in India, you've come to the right place. I cracked CUET twice in consecutive years, 2022 and 2023, during my NEET journey. I'll share my preparation strategies, particularly focusing on the science domain subjects and the English and General Test sections. Feel free to adapt these tips according to your specific needs and stream.

Understanding the CUET

Jumping right into it, the CUET is the Unified Entrance Test for Indian Central Universities, designed to provide a common platform for students to get into various undergraduate and postgraduate courses. The syllabus varies significantly across different subjects, so make sure to refer to the specific syllabus documents for your chosen course.

English Preparation

Let's dive into the English section. Effective preparation in English can significantly boost your overall score in the CUET. Practice comprehension passages diligently, as this is the easiest way to fetch marks.

Vocabulary drill is crucial. Regularly revise your vocab with the help of YouTube channels such as Malviya Academy or CUET Adda247. They often focus on common vocab. A pro tip I offer is that questions in the exams can come from NCERT Class 12th books, especially the Vistas and Flamingo textbooks. One of my exam questions came from NCERT 12th, so it's definitely something to keep in mind.

Grammar Practice

For grammar, watching YouTube tutorials and then practicing alone can be effective. Understanding the fundamental concepts and applying them in various contexts will strengthen your grammar skills.

Biology

Biology, as you’ll find, is largely based on the NCERT 12th standard text. If you have a good memory, you can almost score full marks in this section. Being thorough with the NCERT books, especially the 12th standard, will pay off handsomely.

Chemistry

Chemistry is a bit trickier, as both JEE and NEET students compete for the same seats. To understand the concepts, follow YouTube channels such as PW or CUET Adda247. Practice is key. Focus on Inorganic Chemistry and complete all NCERT exercises. For Organic Chemistry, the 12th standard is the most important section. In Physical Chemistry, practice applying formulas with their variations and understanding how different factors affect them.

Physics

Physics is arguably the most challenging section for me. It requires not just memorization, but an understanding of the concepts. Use YouTube channels like PhysicsMan for his concise and clear lectures. Practice and applying formulas is essential, particularly the NCERT blue boxes and 'Points to Ponder' sections. This will help you score well and stay calm during the exam.

General Test

The General Test section requires a different strategy. Following the advice of Kishor Sir is highly recommended; he has the best materials and teaching methods for this exam. He can provide you with targeted resources and study plans tailored to the requirements of the CUET.

Final Thoughts

After following these tips, remember to stay consistent with your practice and review. The more time you spend on these topics, the better prepared you'll be for the CUET. If you need further support or advice, feel free to reach out. Good luck with your preparation!
